April 10th 2008 - French version

Organised annually, the Capital Finance Prizes (Prix Capital Finance) are intended to reward the most successful players in Venture Capital. On Monday 7 April 2008 at the Palais Brongniart, the jury, made up of Venture Capital professionals, awarded the prize for “Best Venture Capital operation” to SOFIMAC Partners. Having enjoyed very sustained levels of activity since the beginning of 2007, SOFIMAC Partners obtained this reward as a long-term shareholder in biotechnologies company OPi, having been involved in its development up until it was sold in April 2007.

SOFIMAC Partners: “Best Venture Capital operation”

For the past three years, the Capital Finance Prizes have annually rewarded the most successful players in Venture Capital.

Among the 6 categories comprising the Capital Finance Prizes, this year SOFIMAC Partners distinguished itself in the “Best Venture Capital operation” category, for which it was competing as a long-term shareholder in OPi.

Internal rate of return, investment multiple, growth in turnover, innovations, novel aspects of technologies and products...: all such criteria, both qualitative and financial, enabled the jury, made up of investment capital professionals, to award the prize for the “Best Venture Capital operation” on 7 April at the Palais Brongniart. The competition was open to all operations in France and Europe carried out by a French team or office over the course of the 2007 calendar year.

The distinction awarded enables SOFIMAC Partners to reassert itself as a major player in local Venture Capital in a large area covering all the centre and south-east of France.

OPi: a real success story

Based in the Rhône-Alpes region, OPi is a biopharmaceutical company specialising in developing and marketing therapeutic agents and monoclonal antibodies for treating rare and serious illnesses. Built on a mixed model linking market products, strong regulatory expertise and R&D activity, it has enjoyed rapid growth in turnover since it was founded, reaching 18 million euros in 2006.

Having been a shareholder in OPi when it was set up, during the first round of financing in 2000, SOFIMAC Partners has been involved at each stage of the company's development, in which other financing groups also became involved. In April 2007 the company was sold to EUSA PHARMA for in excess of 100 M€, which was more than 5 times its turnover in 2006.
