A pioneer in neighborhood venture capital in France
Formation of Sofimac, one of the first companies promoting neighborhood venture capital in France. Legal status: credit institution, with the SDR status (Société de Développement Régional - Regional Development Company). Founders: Michelin, Banques Populaires, ADIMAC/DATAR (government agencies), Auvergne and Rhône-Alpes Regions
End of the 1990s
A thriving private equity business
The creation of the Nouveau Marché allowed Sofimac to raise funds for a number of holdings, with eight IPOs between 1997 and 2000 (Recif, Synelec, Quantel, Biodome, Nergeco, Rigiflex, Coheris and Gaudriot).
Developed asset management for third parties and a technology division.
1999
We established Sofimac Partners, the Group's Fund management company, which has been accredited by the French stock exchange regulator (previously the COB, now called AMF).
Sofimac Partners set up its two first technology venture capital funds, “Fonds Croissance Innovation 1” and “Le Lanceur”, a seed capital fund, then the “France Régions Innovation 1” innovation venture capital fund.
2005
A shift in the breakdown of operations, with :
A geographical expansion into the center of France, as a result of the merger with Centre Capital Développement (Orléans),
Enhanced investment capacity with two new funds: Sofimac Croissance (development capital and LBOs), and Opportunités Régions (turnaround stories).
